This year marks an anniversary of exceptional significance in the history of Pomposa Abbey: the millennium of the reconsecration of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, which took place on 7 May 1026 during the abbacy of San Guido degli Strambiati, as recorded on the plaque on the floor mosaic inside the church. Throughout 2026, therefore, Pomposa will be at the heart of a wide-ranging programme of celebrations designed to highlight its rich history and spiritual significance.
